Welcome to my blog! I am a full time professional photographer specialising in natural, creative wedding photography and a range of different types of portrait photography including maternity, new born babies, families and pets.

I love my work as, for me, a photograph is a split second in time, which is shaped by the emotions of a moment. Every photograph tells a story and particular images can conjour up strong and sometimes powerful memories. I count myself lucky to really love what I do as I have a passion for taking photographs and finding out what makes people tick.

I am based near Bristol and Bath in the Chew Valley. For weddings, I work mainly in the Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Gloucestershire areas and photograph weddings regularly at some of the best venues in the region including: Hunstrete House, Thornbury Castle, Ston Easton Park, Maunsel House, Kingscote Barn, The Park, The Matara Centre and Guyers House. I am happy to travel to other parts of the country and abroad. To find out more about my wedding photography please click here. For portraits I work either in clients' homes, on location or from my studio in the Chew Valley and aim to offer a relaxed, fun and personal experience, particularly as many of my clients have known me since photographing their wedding and come back to me for their family photographs. Baby Emily

Last week I met up with Sarah and Steve. whose wedding I photographed about 18 months ago. They now have a gorgeous little girl Emily, so it was so nice to see them again – now a family and take some photos for them. As Emily was sitting and beginning to crawl, we did some in the studio and then wandered along to the lake for a few outdoor shots.

Baby Isaac

A couple of weeks ago I photographed gorgeous baby Isaac in the studio. He was very good and we managed to get quite a lot of lovely shots – some awake and some more sleepy which is really nice with a newborn baby.  Next time I see him, I am sure he will have grown a lot and won’t quite fit in his Dad’s hands again!

Bristol portrait photography – the Constable/Winser family

Last weekend I met up with Philippa, Andy, Holly, Sam, Laura, Kayleigh and Alex in Bristol to take some family portraits for them. We had a coffee first in the Arnolfini hoping that the showers would stop – luckily they did and we headed out to the harbourside.

Here are a few images from their shoot:

Bath portrait photography

Last week I spent a lovely morning with Judith, Ian, Izzy and labrador Bramble  at their home in Bath. They have a lovely garden room which was light and airy, so we took some pictures in there and also in the garden.

Bristol Family Portraits – The Down Family’s Portrait Session

Last week I had the pleasure of spending a morning with the Down family. I first met them 2 years ago when I photographed their first daughter Olivia at almost exactly the same time of year. They came back with Olivia (now a bouncy young lady rather than a baby!) and baby Katy, who really reminded me of Olivia at the same age. We caught up over a cup of coffee and then had a lovely time in the buttercup field taking some gorgeous natural shots.  There was then time for a break and a change of clothes for the girls and we headed along the lake path to do some pictures there using all the lovely seasonal backgrounds.

Elaine, Mark, Finlay and Jasmine’s Portrait Shoot in Bristol

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Elaine, Mark, Finlay and Jasmine on Elaine’s birthday – which was a stunning Autumn day and a great opportunity to have a wander along the lake path as well as doing a few shots in the studio.  I have known Elaine and Mark for a few years since I photographed their wedding so it was really lovely to see them again and spend some time with the family.

Portrait photography in Bristol – Hannah’s Portrait Session

Last week I did a couple of portrait sessions with Hannah and her Mum Dee to mark Hannah’s birthday and to get some images for her modelling portfolio.  We did some images in the studio first and then ventured outside in the gorgeous evening sunshine – which is my favourite kind of light to work in!  Hannah had a variety of her favourite outfits to wear so we had fun styling the shoot to match the different backgrounds.

The following day we met up again in town on the waterfront area to do more of a fashion style shoot – including some very glamorous shots of  Hannah in a fur style jacket – professional models eat your hearts out!

Sarah and James’ Portrait Session near Bath

Last Friday I headed over to one of my local haunts, Hunstrete House Hotel near Pensford, to do take some photographs of Sarah and her brother James and their lovely golden lab.  Sarah had organised the shoot as a present for her  Mother and Father, thinking that it would be a great opportunity to get some pictures of the two of them for a really different and personal present. We had a great time in the grounds of the hotel (throwing the odd stick or 2 to keep everybody happy!).

Portrait Shoot in the Chew Valley – Jake

A couple of weeks ago I spent an afternoon with Jake and his lovely parents at their farm above Blagdon Lake. Any locals will know what a nice backdrop the lake is and with a bit of Autumn Colour coming through it was a great time for a shoot. Poor little Jake hadn’t been feeling too well but he still managed to have fun and I got some great images of him. He loves pottering around outside and in particular has a thing for garden gates so we got quite a few shots of him just doing his thing and enjoying the outdoors. Here are a few of my favourites:

The Tandy Family

It’s been a busy Autumn here so far with the new studio now open and some lovely portrait sessions in the studio and also in the Autumn leaves. I have just got back from a blissful couple of weeks’ holiday and so I’ll catch up with blogging as soon as I can!

Just before I went away, the lovely Tandy family came for a family shoot as their new baby Oliver was 6 months old. I photographed Laura and Rob’s wedding a few years ago and then baby Erin last year (who is now an energetic toddler!) so it was great to catch up with them.

It was a nice day weatherwise, so after some shots in the studio we headed out to the orchard (a very popular spot with little ones!) and took some photos of Erin there playing under the trees.

Here are a few of my favourite shots from their session:
